If God is your copilot, it's time to switch seats

Does anyone else find it difficult to just sit back and go with the flow?

This is so hard for me. I am such a planner, and I write everything down. I have routines and to-do lists galore, stickers and calendars, planners and journals, reminders and timers set.

And then all of a sudden something changes in my schedule and everything goes awry. Sigh.

Sometimes I feel like the more I try to plan, the more MY plans fail.

And then I realized that this is perfectly okay. In fact, it’s how it’s supposed to be.

Because I shouldn’t be planning out every single detail of my life. First of all, where’s the fun in that?!

Always knowing what I’m going to be doing next, lacking the element of spontaneity or surprise, nothing to look forward to. No room for opportunities to arise or doors to spring open, burgeoning with possibilities and God's calling for my life.

I need to drop the plan-it-to-the-tee mentality and let go and let God take over.

HE is in control. It is HIS plan I need to embrace. HIS sovereignty and will, not my silly little plans and fickle goals for the future.

For someone like me, who is so used to having a set plan and schedule, it is easier said than done to just throw that all away and allow God to switch places with me.

But it is so worth it, and comes with a sort of peace that cannot be comprehended in this lifetime.

I encourage you to join me in this season and be free of always having to be in control of your life.

Because if I am the pilot of my life, I will certainly crash time and time again.

I was making God the copilot of my life when He should have been where He resides in heaven - left seat.

I humbly pray that if that is also you, that you would try to join me in switching seats with God.

Allow the Maker of the universe to guide your steps, because His oversight is so much greater than ours.

He can see where we’re going. He can see the instruments on our airplane of life.

The turbulent weather ahead of life’s struggles could be avoided if we trust Him, our pilot, to divert and carry us safely away from the storms.

Rather than making the storms of life go completely away, our God provides us a way through them when we boldly approach His throne in confidence that can only come from Him.

You can plan all you want, but usually God has another idea.

Sitting back on the airplane, you can only see out the window of what is directly around you. You have no idea what is straight ahead out the windshield. Only the pilot knows that and can see what's ahead.

Just like in life, we can only see what is happening directly around us. We cannot see what is coming ahead.

BUT GUESS WHO CAN :) God!!

So let Him lead you and protect you from what you can’t see is coming.

When He cancels your plans, it’s not to upset you or go against you, but it is because He can see what we can’t, and it is because He loves you and doesn’t want you getting hurt. He is our Great Protector, always looking out for us and making a way when it seems impossible to keep going.

So, my dear friends, sit back and enjoy this flight of life, where your Pilot will guide you safely through it, going over a few bumps here and there, but will eventually land you safely at the end, meeting you at the terminal and welcoming you into the gates of heaven.
