The Dreaded Word: Wait

Writer: Lauren BrandtLauren Brandt

Do you ever feel unsure, not knowing if where you are in life is where you are supposed to be? Maybe you already know your calling, maybe you are walking in it right now. Maybe you've already faced failure after failure, looking ahead at an unknown path, just waiting.

W A I T I N G

That's the word isn't it. The word we all fear. In this world, we are told we need to have a go go go outlook and if we take one minute to slow down, we already feel behind.

W A I T

The word that no matter how scary, actually allows for clarity.

W A I T

The word that allows growth in a place inaccessible in the rush.

I don't know about you, but lately, with the increasing hustle of the world around me, I have actually leaned into the want of waiting. I have become someone who looks forward to the slow day, watching the rush around me while I sit, reflect, and think.

The waiting is a time we won't always have and I have slowly learned the importance of embracing it while you are in it.

God gives us a season of waiting to grant us the opportunity to dive into deep relationship and fellowship with Him. And you know what, we should desire that every day, not only in our season of waiting.

But it is often in this season of waiting where we truly realize how necessary fellowship with the one true King is. When we live in our selfishness and forget the importance of relationship with Jesus, the waiting season feels lonelier than ever. I am not saying it suddenly becomes easy and immediate clarity appears; however, when you become all in with Jesus, peace rushes over.

Instead of carrying the weight of anxiety in the unknown during my waiting, I can trust that God's perfect timing is on my side. I can have faith that I am exactly where God wants me right now and He will allow doors to open and doors to close, directing me further in His will for my life.

I pray you can surrender your waiting season over to God, embracing His timing in your life as the best timing and the right timing. Dive further into a relationship with Him, read His word, ask for clarity, and listen to what He has to say. Listening takes patience and listening takes separation from the hustle of the world around us.

Unplug from the world and plug into what God has to say.

Turn off the phone, grab a pen, open your Bible and notebook and bask in His presence.

Isaiah 60:22: "The least will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation. I am the Lord; I will accomplish it quickly in its time.” (CSB)

Bein in communion with the Lord is so important in the waiting season. Thank you for putting so much emphasis on that!
